ART of FOLKS
富山県の豊富で清らかな水は、自然の力だけではなく、人の力によって循環するものとなり、人の生活を支えながら、様々な生態系を生み出しています。例えば富山県西部にある、水田が広がる平野の中に点々と家屋が存在する「散居村」。そこには風土を感じられる美しい風景があります。
かつて、富山県は南砺に滞在した民藝運動の創始者・柳宗悦は、自然と人がともに作り上げる土地の品格を「土徳（どとく）」と表現しました。土徳のある暮らしは、循環型経済、社会共通資本、民主主義と相互扶助といった、現代の課題へのヒントに満ちています。一方で、現代社会の変化の中で、そういった暮らしのあり方は急速に失われています。それらを残すための解決策の一つとして、“ART of FOLKS”という活動、そして共同体が生まれました。Podcast番組の配信、Educational Tourism、お寺での対話型講座、実践的ラボなどが展開されていきます。
土徳が宿るもの。「自然由来のものでできている」「伝統がある」「全て手作りである」などという安易な線引きをすることはできません。その土地の恵みへの感謝と、人と自然との共同作業によって生まれることは確かです。言語での正確な説明の範疇を超え、湿度の高い富山の霞みの中にゆらぎながら存在し、でも確かに美しいと感じざるを得ないもの。
答えを求め合う仲間ではなく、道中に喜びを感じ、静かに考えを深めて糧としていけるような場に合った、つかめそうでつかめない柔らかなイメージをロゴにしました。

Toyama Prefecture's abundant pure waters circulate not only by the power of nature, but also by the power of man, giving birth to various lifeforms while sustaining man. For example, in western Toyama Prefecture, there are "scattered settlements" where houses are scattered in plains of expansive rice fields, giving birth to a beautiful landscape where you can feel the local clime.
Formerly, Muneyoshi Yanagi, founder of the folk craft movement, stayed in Nanto, Toyama Prefecture. He expressed the land quality created together by nature and man as “Dotoku (virtue of soil)." A life with Dotoku is full of hints for modern problems such as circular economies, social capital, democracy. and mutual aid. Conversely, as modern society changes, this way of life is rapidly being lost. "ART of FOLKS" was born as one strategy of preserving these, both as a movement and a community. Podcast programs, educational tourism, interactive courses at temples, practical labs, and the like continue to be held.
What embodies Dotoku? It is not possible to draw a line such as "being made from natural things," "being traditional," or "being entirely handmade." It is something born from gratitude for the blessings of the land and collaboration between man and nature. It is beyond the scope of precise description in words, being present while swaying in the haze of humid Toyama Prefecture, but you really cannot help but feel that it is beautiful.
I made the logo into a soft mental image that seems like something you can grasp, but still eludes you, suited for when feeling joy along the way, quietly deepening your thoughts, and finding sustenance, rather than being among companions seeking answers from each other.
